Material Planner (Scunthorpe)

Description and tasks

Role purpose

The purpose of the role is to update, analyse and validate delivery schedules obtained from customers and to make sure that we deliver according to customers’ demands. Be the first point of contact to the customers regarding questions related to logistic. This role reports in to the Material Planning Manager

 

Main duties/ responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop existing and new customers through appropriate communications
  • Analyse and interpret customer schedule requirements to ensure on time deliveries
  • Analyse, communicate with and schedule on suppliers and own manufacturing sites ensuring JIT deliveries whilst minimising inventory holdings
  • Obtain and coordinate information regarding additional freights
  • Ensure the material planning cycle is accurately reflected in our MRP (Material Planning) system
  • Enter or maintain customer schedules, via EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) and other processes in an accurate and timely manner
  • Manage the daily customer contact regarding questions related to delivery
  • Inform customers if there is a risk we will not deliver according to orders/schedules
  • Analyse, evaluate and action MRP to ensure maximum on time deliveries with minimum inventory holding
  • Continually work to improve working processes, on time deliveries and cost reductions in conjunction with other departments
  • Maintain data integrity and support finance, quality and dispatch teams with day to day operations
  • Analyse and interpret large sets of data and be able to present clearly and constructively
  • Be the key liaison between internal departments and customers
  • Use initiative to resolve issues and not be afraid of making decisions
  • Support other team members customers during holiday periods and sickness
  • Liaise and attend meetings with other departments to aid business and organisational development
  • Attend training to develop relevant knowledge and skills
  • Knowledge of and adherence to ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and IATF 16949
  • Knowledge of and adherence to Bulten Group & Bulten Ltd Health and Safety Policy and procedures
  • Knowledge of and adherence to Bulten Ltd Environmental Policy
  • To assist as required with any other reasonable request in line with business needs or customer/client requirements

Candidate Profile

Experience and qualification needs for the role 

2-5 years professional experience from similar work
Previous experience of working in ERP systems, ERP system M3 highly desirable

Our Offer

This is a full time, permanent opportunity working 35 hours per week.

Monday to Friday 08:30 - 16:30 with a 1 hour unpaid lunch break. 

Competitive salary dependant on experience 

Annual holiday entitlement of 25 days plus 8 recognised bank holidays
