Solutions Development Engineer

Description and tasks

The Solutions Development Engineer reports to the V-P, Global Sales, serving as a technical expert supporting customers, sales teams, and internal stakeholders. In this role, you will focus on finding, developing, and redesigning processes and products by leveraging new technologies. You will collaborate closely with suppliers and internal teams to identify innovative solutions that address customer challenges, improve cost efficiency, and boost productivity. Engaging directly with customers, you will gather requirements, develop technical proposals, and ensure quality assurance throughout the process. Additionally, you will support business development, monitor market trends, and work with brands or product principals to deliver training that enhances technical knowledge across customers, sales teams, and internal stakeholders. Through your expertise and cross-functional collaboration, you will drive innovation, customer satisfaction, and business growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze existing product designs and manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for improvement or redesign.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and partners to source new materials, components, or technologies that enhance product performance and reduce costs.
  • Support cross-functional teams in developing, testing, and validating prototypes, as well as implementing process changes.
  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate the impact of new solutions on productivity, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Accurately document technical findings, process modifications, and solution proposals.
  • Participate in meetings with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to communicate progress and share insights.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor products to contribute innovative ideas.
  • Provide technical sales support by understanding customer requirements and delivering effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to conduct technical demonstrations, prepare proposals, and deliver product presentations.
  • Identify potential products to meet customer needs and contribute to expanding the company’s product portfolio.
  • Develop strong relationships with suppliers through regular communication and joint visits.
  • Engage directly with customers to understand their applications and recommend suitable products.
  • Research and evaluate suppliers or brands that align with the company’s product strategy.
  • Travel within the designated region to meet customers, attend industry events, and build a strong regional presence.
  • Deliver on-site technical support and training as required.
  • Assist in developing and implementing strategies to drive sales revenue and meet targets.
  • Analyze market trends and competitor activity to uncover new growth opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Candidate Profile

Pre-requisites:-

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or related technical field.
  2. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with CAD or process simulation software.
  3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
  4. Good interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
  5. Basic knowledge of product design, manufacturing processes, and materials.
  6. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with attention to detail and timeliness.
  7. Willingness to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Ability to analyze complex technical requirements and recommend suitable solutions.
  9. Strong networking and relationship-building skills.
  10. Possess a valid driving license
  11. Willingness to travel within the region.
