Material Planning Manager (Scunthorpe)

Description and tasks

Role purpose, reporting line and forums

To ensure the Material Planning team delivers the required service levels to meet the customer and company targets by supporting them in all activities and processes. To manage, coach and develop the performance of the teams to deliver excellent service levels at all times. Key liaison with Warehouse, Commercial, Quality, Group MP&L, FSP teams. Reporting into the MP&L Manager

 

Main duties & responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe working environment for all employees. Leading a Safety First Culture.
  • Maintain and develop all non-FSP customers and inbound suppliers whilst supporting all team members to ensure all customer specifications/requirements are met. Drive a right first time approach to ensure we delight the customers
  • To ensure all customer requirements relating to shipments and stock control issues are in line with customer demands. Analyse and interpret all customers activities and processes
  • To ensure all Financial targets are achieved in line with budgets, providing MI as required
  • Be the point of contact for all JLR RED escalations and all non-JLR concerns and represent whole department in management level meetings escalating as required. Build and maintain strong relationships with all areas of the business and work collaboratively with other departments
  • To focus on people development and ensuring excellent service is delivered and relationships developed. Regular 121's, identify development and training needs, provide day-to-day support
  • To drive a culture where Continuous improvement is strived for, setting stretching targets/objectives for the relevant teams, review how the team and planning processes can be improved.
  • Oversee, evaluate and action MRP and non-FSP accounts to ensure maximum on time deliveries and cost reduction in conjunction with other departments
  • Liaise with factories, subcontractors and customers to ensure customer order requirements are achieved
  • Ensure the material planning cycle is accurately reflected in our MRP (Material Planning) system for all non-FSP accounts
  • Knowledge of and adherence to Work Instructions relevant to role. Regular review of processes, and ensure accurate and up to date work instructions are available to new starters.
  • Answer non-JLR Team Members questions promptly, help prioritise and provide support with any problems that occur and oversee team members work for quality and guideline compliance. Knowledge of and adherence to ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and IATF 16949
  • Responsible for the communication and adherence of all direct reports in all matters relating to the ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and IATF16949 requirements
  • To assist as required with any other reasonable request in line with business needs or customer/client requirements

Candidate Profile

Experience and qualifications needed for the role

 

Essential

  • Degree level education or equivalent experience
  • MS Office
  • Experience of managing, leading and motivate personnel, including remote management.
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Advanced communication, interpersonal, negotiation, problem-solving, and time and priority
  • Calm under pressure

 

Desirable

  • Example of working on continuous improvement projects and understanding principles of lean

Our Offer

This is a full time, permanent opportunity working 35hrs per week

Monday - Friday 08:30 - 16:30 with a 1 hour unpaid break for lunch

Salary is competitive depending on experience
